The Nelson Mandela Academy was founded in 1996. The Academy strives to offer the highest standards of teaching, research, and scholarship as practiced in the wider academic community, in an environment conductive to creativity, to learning, and to freedom of thought, enquiry and expression.

It strives to produce graduates who are equipped to contribute to the intellectual, social, political, moral and material development of the communities in which they are to live, and who recognize that the development of contemporary communities reflects diversity alongside consensus and acknowledgement of the past as well as concern for innovation, engagement, transformation and the future.

It strives to undertake teaching, research, consultancy, business establishment and other forms of service to the local regional communities which will enrich our teaching and advance our quest for social, cultural, political and economical advancement.

The Academy's Goals

To fulfill our mission we have major goals. These goals guide our planning strategies, which we review and we review and upgrade annually. We do our utmost to achieve each goal by safeguarding our established freedom to create an environment of excellence in teaching and research and by maintaining the status of a leading Private Academy of Applied legal Studies:

To promote and provide relevant legal education suitable for creating self-employment and business establishment.

To develop the best qualities of our students.

To facilitate and maintain excellence in teaching.

To attract the most intellectually able staff and students.

To provide flexible legal education to full-time and part-time workers or students.

To provide opportunities for staged career change into the legal business field.

To secure and manage the resources to implement our goals.

To disseminate knowledge to benefit and serve our communities.

To enable and assist students to further their education.

To assist our students to be successful legal business entrepreneurs.

To assist our students to find employment in the legal fields.
